Overview
Pokhara is a beautiful city located in western Nepal, known for its stunning natural scenery and adventure activities such as trekking, paragliding, and boating. Thapa Peak, also known as Dhampus Peak, is a popular trekking peak in the Annapurna region of Nepal.
The trek to Thapa Peak starts from Nayapul, a small town near Pokhara, and passes through lush forests, traditional villages, and beautiful mountain landscapes. The trek involves moderate-to-difficult levels of hiking, with steep ascents and descents and some technical sections
Itinerary
Day 1 :
Arrival in Pokhara
Arrive in Pokhara and check into your hotel. Spend the day exploring the beautiful lakeside town and relaxing before your trek.
Day 2 :
Pokhara to Naudanda to Sarangkot
Drive from Pokhara to Naudanda and begin trekking toward Sarangkot. The trail offers beautiful views of the Annapurna mountain range and passes through small villages and terraced fields. Stay overnight in Sarangkot.
Day 3 :
Sarangkot to Kande to Australian Camp
Continue trekking from Sarangkot to Kande and then on to Australian Camp. The trail is mostly uphill and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Stay overnight in Australian Camp.
Day 4 :
Australian Camp to Landruk
Descend from Australian Camp to the village of Landruk, passing through beautiful forests and small settlements. Enjoy views of the Annapurna and Hiunchuli peaks along the way. Stay overnight in Landruk.
Day 5 :
Landruk to Chomrong
Trek from Landruk to Chomrong, passing through the Modi Khola river valley and climbing steeply up to the Gurung village of Chomrong. Stay overnight in Chomrong.
Day 6 :
Chomrong to Dovan
Descend from Chomrong to the Chomrong Khola river and cross over to the other side. Trek through bamboo and rhododendron forests to reach Dovan. Stay overnight in Dovan.
Day 7 :
Dovan to Deurali
Trek from Dovan to Deurali, passing through the Himalayan Hotel and enjoying views of the Hinku Cave and the Modi Khola river valley. Stay overnight in Deurali.
Day 8 :
Deurali to Machapuchare Base Camp (MBC)
Trek from Deurali to MBC, where you will get stunning views of the Machapuchare peak (also known as Fishtail Mountain). Stay overnight in MBC.
Day 9 :
MBC to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC)
Trek from MBC to ABC, which is located at the base of the Annapurna massif. The trail is steep and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, including Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. Stay overnight in ABC.
Day 10 :
ABC to Thapa Peak Base Camp
Begin trekking towards Thapa Peak Base Camp, which is located at an altitude of around 4,600 meters. The trail is steep and challenging but offers stunning views of the Annapurna range. Stay overnight in Thapa Peak Base Camp.
Day 11 :
Thapa Peak Base Camp to High Camp
Trek from Thapa Peak Base Camp to High Camp, located at an altitude of around 5,100 meters. The trail is steep and demanding, but offers incredible views of the surrounding mountains. Stay overnight in High Camp.
Day 12 :
Summit Day
Begin early in the morning to summit Thapa Peak. The climb is challenging, but the views from the summit are truly breathtaking. Descend back to High Camp and then to Base Camp. Stay overnight in Base Camp.
Day 13 :
Base Camp to Bamboo
Descend from Thapa Peak Base Camp to Bamboo, passing through MBC and Deurali along the way. Stay overnight in Bamboo.
Day 14 :
Bamboo to Jhinu Danda
Trek from Bamboo to Jhinu Danda, where you can relax in the natural hot springs and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Stay overnight in Jhinu
